Auction Results Dec. 22, '04
After 10 open days and almost uninterrupted international participation in the last 48 hours at the Kunst-Werke KW Institute for Contemporary Art, the online auction to support the exhibition project "Regarding Terror: The RAF-Exhibition" concluded successfully on Wednesday, Dec. 22nd '04 at 2 p.m.
"Close to 250,000 € were bid by participants from the USA, Australia, Brazil, and Europe for the 12 works of art offered on the website or were additionally donated to the KW. All the artworks, including the last one, whose bid from abroad was received just a few minutes after the close of the eBay deadline, were sold to benefit the project. Personal dedication and queries drew international attention to the exhibition and generated the necessary support," noted the former Artistic Director Klaus Biesenbach and the new Director Gabriele Horn, who conducted the auction with united efforts.
"Our special thanks, however, goes to the artists who provided us with works for the auction: Marina Abramovic, Doug Aitken, Francis Alÿs, Monica Bonvicini, Dinos and Jake Chapman, Thomas Demand, Andreas Gursky, Carsten Höller, Paul Pfeiffer, Ugo Rondinone, Lawrence Weiner, and Jane and Louise Wilson."
Thanks to this support, the KW Institute for Contemporary Art will open the exhibition on January 29 th in Berlin. Afterward, the exhibition will be shown in the Neue Galerie at the Landesmuseum Joanneum in Graz, Austria.
A 2-volume, thematic catalog edited by Klaus Biesenbach will appear with the kind support of the Georg Steidl Verlag. Further information will follow shortly.
We would be happy to answer any questions you may have. For now, we remain with the best wishes for the holidays and the New Year,
