Regarding Terror: The RAF Exhibition

In view of the fact that the duration of “Regarding Terror: The RAF-Exhibition” at the KW Institute for Contemporary Art has now passed mid-term, we wish to present an interim balance of response to the show so far.

With over 25,000 visitors, the exhibition has already proved to be one of the most successful in the history of KW. Demand is likewise very high for the program of accompanying events such as the readings staged in cooperation with the Sophiensaele, the guided tours of the show, and the related publications.

Response to the show in German and international media has been many-voiced, critical, constructive and largely positive. Since December 11, 2004 (the start of the auction which secured the funds enabling the exhibition to go ahead) some 700 articles relating to the exhibition have appeared in Germany and other countries including Israel, Brazil, Japan, and India; reviews were published in publications like the art magazin, artforum, Boston Globe, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Liberation, Le Monde, New York Times, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Frankfurter Rundschau, Spiegel, Stern, die tageszeitung, Texte zur Kunst, and Die Zeit. In addition to television coverage by some 20 domestic and international broadcasters including ARD, arte, CNN, BBC World, Swiss TV, and ZDF, the show has been featured by around 50 radio stations in Germany and abroad. Several Berlin-based mediums have covered the show a number of times from various perspectives. The initial high level of media interest has not waned in the course of the exhibition.

The unexpected demand for the new KW visitor service offering guided tours of the exhibition made it necessary to increase the frequency of the scheduled general tours. More than 1,000 visitors have used the tour service so far.
Visitors may choose between a one-hour general tour or a variable-duration tour tailored to specific thematic interests. Prices are available on request. We recommend that bookings be made as early as possible.

We would also like to draw your attention to the film screenings that will be taking place in cooperation with the Arsenal cinema from April 19 onward.
Preliminary information can be found under:

More details and dates will be forthcoming within the next few days.

Due to the unusual level of public interest the exhibition will remain open over the Whitsun public holiday (May 16).
